What we cover

  • New Jersey licensing requirements and the steps in order
  • Pre-licensing education: what it involves and what it costs
  • The examination and how people prepare for it
  • Choosing a brokerage, and the questions to ask before you sign anything
  • How commission income actually works, and what the first year tends to look like
  • Startup and ongoing expenses
  • The daily responsibilities of a working agent
  • Open questions from attendees — usually the best part

Who should come

People considering the license. Newly licensed agents choosing a brokerage. People in another career weighing a change. Anyone who wants a realistic picture before spending money on coursework.

Who hosts

Rob Canfield, Broker/Owner of NextHome Shore Success and a licensed New Jersey real estate instructor, leads the session.

What this is not

It is not a sales pitch with a licensing course attached. We will tell you if we think real estate is a poor fit for your situation, and we will tell you to interview other brokerages before choosing one.

Questions

Who should attend?

Anyone considering a real estate career: people thinking about the license, newly licensed agents deciding on a brokerage, and people who are simply curious what the job involves. No license required, no experience required.

Is there a cost?

Cost and registration for the next session are shown in the details panel above, which reads from the Career Night site. If it says To be announced, the next date has not been set yet.

Will I be pressured to join?

No. Plenty of attendees decide real estate is not for them, and that is a useful outcome. We would rather you make an informed decision than an enthusiastic one.

Is food provided? Where do I park?

Venue, parking and refreshment details for the next session appear in the details panel above once a date is scheduled, and on the Career Night site.

Can I ask specific questions about income?

Yes, and we will answer honestly about how commission income works and what startup costs look like. We will not promise you a number, because nobody legitimately can.

Verify current requirements

Licensing requirements, fees, forms and procedures may change. Visitors should verify current requirements with the New Jersey Real Estate Commission and approved education providers. NextHome Shore Success does not issue real estate licenses and is not the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.

No guarantees

NextHome Shore Success does not guarantee examination passage, licensure, sponsorship, employment, independent-contractor affiliation, transactions, commissions or earnings. Real estate is a commission-based business. Individual results depend on effort, market conditions, experience and factors outside anyone's control. Nothing on this page is an offer of employment or a promise of income.

How this page stays current

The session details above are read at page load from the Career Night site, so this page cannot display an event that has already happened. Once a session's end time passes, every field reverts to To be announced on its own. Event structured data is emitted only for a confirmed future session, never for a past or undated one. Update the date in one place — the Career Night site — and this page follows.
